Packages
Here are some packages I have put together for live news broadcasts and class projects. Most of these were filmed and edited in a day's time (UGA Meat Sales and Northeast Georgia LARPing are the exceptions). I'm given an assignment at about 9:30 am and the work has to be ready for air at 5 pm. I handled the writing and interviewing for each of these stories. A partner films and helps with editing. The UGA Meat Sales story was unique in that I had a partner film it, but I wrote and edited the package. I worked on the Northeast Georgia LARPing and Veterans Day stories alone.
REM's Lasting Legacy in Athens
On September 21, 2011, legendary Athens band REM decided to call it quits. UGA Music Business Professor David Barbe gave great insight about the band's history and their impact on the music scene in Athens. Barbe is a friend of the band and moonlights as a record producer.

Veterans Day
Restaurants all over the country were offering free meals to veterans of the armed forces, but a group of men at the Athens VFW elected not to cash in on the offer. I turned this package in one day as a one man band.

Oconee County Prescription Drop
Law enforcement agents in Oconee County developed a program that allowed citizens to safely dispose of unneeded prescription drugs in a lawful manner.

Hall County Boys and Girls Club
In October of 2011, the Hall County Boys and Girls Club received grants totaling almost $600,000. I caught up with the club's Chief Officer and two program directors to find out how that money would be spent.

Northeast Georgia LARPing
Many might think this hobby is unusual, but participants will tell you it's just a fun way for people to interact and escape the real world. This group of role players meets up once a month to immerse themselves in fantasy.

UGA Meat Market
A group of UGA students are responsible for raising livestock just outside of Athens. They eventually harvest the animals and sell the meat to consumers.
|
Upbeat Senior Center
This was initially supposed to be a report on ways senior citizens can save money. What I found when I got to the Athens Community Council on Aging was much more interesting. Despite budget cuts, the ACCA is thriving thanks to some creative activities. These activities help provide low income seniors with exciting ways to spend their time, and it's all at a low cost.

Unsolved UGA Murders
Some might assume that the unsolved murders of former UGA students Jennifer Stone and Tara Baker have become cold cases, but investigators from the GBI visited UGA to stress that these cases are still reviewed annually. They are now reaching out to the public for help.

Additional Packages
Here are some more packages that were put together in one day. I shot and edited these as part of a reporter/photographer team. I didn't handle any of the writing or pick the soundbites, but I set up all of the shots and interviews. I also cut the packages together, inserted graphics and mixed audio levels on Final Cut Pro.
